He is risen.

Three words that changed everything.

Not just for eternity.
Not just for salvation in some distant, future sense.

But for right here.
For right now.
For the way we live, lead, and carry what’s been placed in our hands.

Because if the tomb is empty… then everything is different.

The Weight We Were Never Meant to Carry

For so many of us—especially as women, as mothers—there’s this quiet pressure we carry every day.

The kind that whispers:

  • It all depends on you.
  • Don’t drop the ball.
  • Hold it all together.

And if we’re being honest… we get really good at it.

We manage the schedules.
We carry the emotional weight of our homes.
We think five steps ahead.
We fix, plan, adjust, and hold everything in place.

I’ve spent years managing numbers, balancing accounts, and making sure everything lines up exactly as it should.

And somewhere along the way… that mindset didn’t stay at work.

It followed me home.

Into my thoughts, my responsibilities, and the way I started carrying my life.

Like if I just worked hard enough… stayed organized enough… thought far enough ahead…

I could keep everything from falling apart.

What the Empty Tomb Changes

But the resurrection tells a different story.

The tomb is empty.

And if the tomb is empty… then the weight I’ve been carrying was never mine to hold alone.

Because Jesus didn’t just rise so we could have hope someday.

He rose so we could live differently today.

It means:

  • It is finished.
  • The outcome is not resting on my shoulders.
  • God is not asking me to hold together what He has already secured.

And yet… how often do I still live as if it all depends on me?

Like I’m the one responsible for making everything work out.

The empty tomb gently confronts that.

Not with shame—but with freedom.

A Legacy Built on What’s Already Been Won

I talk a lot about legacy.

About what we’re building.
What we’re leaving behind.
What our children will carry forward.

But if I’m honest… It’s easy to slip into believing that legacy depends on how well we do everything.

How consistent we are, how patient we are, and how much we can hold together.

But because He is risen… that isn’t true.

Legacy isn’t built by what we accumulate.
It isn’t built by perfection.
It isn’t sustained by pressure.

It’s built on what Christ has already secured.

On a foundation that doesn’t shift when we have hard days.
On grace that meets us in the moments we fall short.
On a Savior who already finished the work we keep trying to manage.

Hope for the Places That Still Feel Heavy

There are still places in life that feel unresolved.

Prayers that haven’t been answered.
Situations that haven’t changed.
Burdens that still feel… heavy.

And sometimes, if we’re honest, it can feel like those things are final.

Like this is just how it’s going to be.

But the resurrection reminds us:

What looks final… isn’t.

The stone was rolled away.
Not because everything looked hopeful in that moment—

But because God was already at work in ways no one could see.

And the same is true now.

In the middle of your uncertainty.
In the places that still feel unfinished.

He is still working.

Living Like It’s Already Finished

Because He is risen…

I don’t have to live under pressure anymore.
I don’t have to lead my home from fear.
I don’t have to carry responsibility like it all rests on me.

I get to live from a place of already-won victory.

That doesn’t mean life is easy.
It doesn’t mean we stop showing up or being intentional.

But it does mean:

I can loosen my grip.
I can release what was never mine.
I can trust that God is at work—even when I can’t see it.

And maybe most importantly…

I can model that kind of faith for my children.

Not a life built on striving.
But a life rooted in surrender.

A Quiet Invitation to Lay It Down

If He is risen… then everything is different.

Including what you’re carrying right now.

So this is your gentle invitation:

You don’t have to hold it all together.

You don’t have to carry the weight of outcomes, of perfection, of making everything turn out right.

You can lay it down.

Not because it doesn’t matter…
But because it matters too much to carry alone.

Reflection Questions

  • What am I carrying right now that was never mine to hold?
  • Where am I living, as everything depends on me?
  • What would shift if I truly believed it is already finished?
  • Am I building my life and legacy from pressure… or from victory?

A Simple Prayer

Lord, thank You that the tomb is empty. Thank You that You finished what I keep trying to carry on my own. Help me release the weight I was never meant to hold. Help me trust You in the places that still feel uncertain. Teach me to live from a place of surrender instead of striving and let my life—and my legacy—be rooted in what You have already done. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
