For a long time, I struggled to find the right symbol for Mom Leaves A Legacy.
Not because there weren’t beautiful options. But because none of them fully captured what this space has become.
Mom Leaves A Legacy didn’t start as a brand strategy or a perfectly planned business idea. It started as something much simpler.
It started as a place where I could write honestly.
About motherhood. About finances. About faith. About the quiet responsibility we carry as mothers who are trying to build something meaningful for our families.
Over time, this space has grown into something deeper than I originally imagined.
And recently, I realized the symbol I had been looking for had been quietly forming in my heart for a while.
An oak tree.
The Kind of Legacy That Grows Slowly
Oak trees don’t grow quickly.
In fact, they grow slowly enough that most people would never notice the progress happening day by day.
But year after year, something remarkable is happening beneath the surface.
The roots are spreading. The trunk is strengthening. The tree is preparing to stand through storms it hasn’t even encountered yet.
And that image stopped me in my tracks because it felt so much like motherhood.
So much of what mothers do happens quietly.
We plant values. We teach habits. We model faith. We guide our children through mistakes, questions, and growth.
Most of the time, the results aren’t immediately visible.

In today’s world, there is so much pressure to grow quickly.
Grow the business faster.
Grow the following faster.

But legacy has never worked that way.

It is built through small daily choices that seem ordinary in the moment but shape generations over time.
- Teaching a child how to pray.
- Having honest conversations about money.
- Modeling forgiveness when life gets messy.
- Choosing faith when circumstances feel uncertain.

And just like an oak tree, those roots are what allow something strong to stand later.

Another thing I love about oak trees is their resilience.
They are known for their strength. But that strength doesn’t come from avoiding storms.
It comes from surviving them.

This space has grown through seasons of uncertainty, exhaustion, learning, and faith.
